The Story Behind the Painting

This dreamy abstract painting, which I have called 'Sweet Meadows', takes me back to my childhood. When I was young, I used to go sailing with a friend on a 'barge and a boat', which was just another way of saying 'a boat and a boat'. We would spend whole afternoons outside, sailing and lying in meadows while dreaming of the most beautiful things. This abstract painting invites you to dream too.

This artwork, which features green, purple, orange and blue, among other colours, is part of a series because I always work in series. This helps me to maintain a consistent mindset, enabling me to apply the lessons of one painting to another. In addition, a series gives buyers the chance to create a cohesive atmosphere in their homes or workplaces. This painting is based on a monotype, a unique print of which only one can be made. I have further enriched this monotype with oil pastels. This is an associative and intuitive process. I let the colours present and my feelings guide me. I only give the artwork a name once it is finished. The title 'Sweet Meadows' conveys the idea of escaping everyday reality and allowing oneself to dream.
